Baby #2

I am 20 weeks pregnant, today! Finally half way there!
When I was pregnant with Caleb I LOVED it! It was best I had ever felt about myself. I didn't get too sick I didn't gain that much weight, and it was the first time I felt beautiful. This time around things have been different. I still get really nauseous, my appetite is "bla"-there is no other word to describe it. I've lost 5 pounds because of it, which normally would make me excited but I get so worried that I'm not eating enough for the baby. Unless it's jello, popsicles, or a loaded turkey sandwich I don't want it. Don't worry I am currently force feeding myself, I just get frustrated that this phase wont go away.
I had a feeling that because my pregnancy with Caleb was so easy and labor went so smoothly that there was no way this pregnancy would be the same. When I was visiting family in California I had a "threatened abortion". I was bleeding. It scarred me so bad.I just kept imagining a dead baby. My mom took me to the E.R. They took an ultrasound (picture above) and the baby was moving around like crazy and the heart rate was perfect. They couldn't tell me why I had bleed but they said I have a low lying placenta which is nothing to worry about unless it doesn't change by the time baby is due. They sent me home on slight bed rest. I was so relieved. As of right now I feel okay. We find out if we'll be having a boy or a girl tomorrow! I can feel the baby move all the time which is really reassuring. I am no longer on bed rest, just pelvic rest (poor Matt ). I'm ready for the baby to be here so I know he/she is safe. I'll keep you all updated.

Saying goodbye in July

Well, our first 3 years in the military had been easy, until we had to start saying goodbye to some great friends. First it was the Felde family in February, the Knudsons in June, and then the Swobodas in July. It's getting quite lonely here on Brooks city base . Matt and I are being left behind... :( We're ready for a change of scenery. A new start.
Anyways, I wanted to post a little tribute to my very good buddy Kari. Being pregnant at the same time was a blast. It was fun sitting around talking about our little babies and sharing all the joys and fears that come along with carrying a child. And then once Caleb and Madison arrived we couldn't wait until they were old enough to play together-that day finally came and at about the same time Dave got orders for Iraq. I thought it was supposed to get easier and easier with every goodbye, but it hasn't been that way for me. We grew very close and I still talk to her a lot. I do hope that I get to see them again. I hope we get to see all of our military buddies again.

July 08

Caleb and I took a trip to California to visit all of our long lost family. We had a blast swimming every other day, riding quads with grandpa, and exploring the outdoors in the wonderful California weather. At our home in Texas Caleb doesn't get to play with a lot of dirt so when we came to the desert he was fascinated with it and all the flies!! We were in California for 3 weeks and we had fun everyday.

My little fish! He loves the water!

Grandma and grandpa bought me my very own quad!!!

Visiting with great grandma Nicky. Caleb loved giggling with her. miss you grandma
Family photo! Cheese everyone!

My family LOVES playing cards! This was a daily event. I miss my family so much, hopefully we'll be stationed closer.....

Happy Birthday Caleb!!
We had a Rock star theme birthday party for Caleb and it was a huge hit! We asked all the kids to dress up and were surprised when most of the adults also showed up in Rocker get-ups! We supplied everyone with paper guitars for decorating, goody bags, and fake tattoos- Matt was the designated tattoo artist and helped all the kiddos transform even more. I was so happy being surrounded by such awesome friends who took the time to come celebrate with us. Caleb had a blast, he was a little overwhelmed but he had fun!

Birthday Boy!

Outside waiting to hit the guitar pinata!

Here Kari try some yummy cake! Thanks Kari for being a good sport!!

Matching tattoos!! I love my boys!

Like I said he was a little overwhelmed! Poor boy :) All in all though it was such a fun day. AND after most everyone left Caleb decided to walk!!! I was so surprised! He had been taking one or two steps here and there but that night he just decided he could cruise all over. It was so funny! Thanks everyone for celebrating with us! Thanks Chelsea for taking pictures!

May 08

Well, I've been told by many that I need to get myself in gear and put up a new post. I thought I'd give everyone a preview of the last few months that I've missed writing about. Here's a little bit about May08...

We went to the Lexington museum in Corpus Christi with the Wills family. We had a great time enjoying each others company, watching the army of jelly fish from the flight deck of the ship, and rushing from shade spot to shade spot trying to stay cool under the hot Texas sun. Caleb loves playing with little stud, Aaron Wills. They have a blast just giggling back and forth as if sharing an inside joke.

The guys had to take a picture in front of the jet with a skull- "because it's bad-ass!" they claimed.

Caleb's just slightly exhausted from the sun :)

The Wills family picture "cheese!"

Awe! Caleb's getting a little relief sitting on the cool flight deck floor.

early morning art lesson...

Caleb loves being outside so every morning this week I've been bringing him outside, before it gets to hot. I've been showing him how to use chalk, crayons, pencils, and even bought him his first "crayola beginings" markers. He loves it! Ya! I have a little artist in the making! He gets a little distracted by grass, leaves, dirt, and birds---Maybe he's just looking for a little inspiration.
I hope he doesn't become too "cool" to hang out with mom and draw because I'm loving this!

Bonding with Daddy...

There's nothing like "powning" some 13 year olds while your little one snuggles up to you. Caleb loves hanging out with dad. I love watching them together. They even have their own language. A couple nights ago Caleb was in his walker, in the kitchen with me, and Matt was -you guessed it- playing video games in the living room. Caleb could hear Matt in the next room yelling and started mimicking Matts bursts of glory and defeat. This went on for 10-15 minutes and I couldn't keep from laughing. It was so entertaining and just what I needed to complete my day.
